WHY Having a Supportive Community is Critical For Cancer Survivors

The Problem with Cancer

According to the World Health Organization (WHO) cancer is a growing global epidemic, and statistics show that 2 in 5 people will be newly diagnosed with cancer in the next year. With billions of dollars in research and advancing treatments, cancer survivors are living longer than ever before.

But After Active Cancer Treatment…

Many survivors ask “what can I do now?” and many get the response “nothing, just return to the life you were living before”. This answer fails to acknowledge the full cancer journey – from diagnosis through remission.

The Solution

The Cancer Remission Mission is based on three foundational concepts

Accessibility to Care

To provide online resources, support and direction so survivors can connect, heal, and transform at their own pace in the comfort of their own homes and communities.

Individualization of Care

To provide a framework for survivors to cultivate self-awareness and self-advocacy to move beyond “standards of care” to discover what their bodies need.

Community Reintegration

To build communities that have the capacity, understanding and knowledge to support survivors as they transition back to daily life.

The Climb Through CANCER RECOVERY™

To help fulfill on these principles, The Cancer Remission Mission provides a signature framework called, The Climb Through Cancer RecoveryTM. This step-by-step process centres on the 4 R’s – RElease, REclaim, REstore and REnew – which were carefully crafted and cultivated to help survivors overcome fear and overwhelm with clarity and confidence, guiding them to become thrivers!

Meet our Founder

Dr. Katrina Cox, ND

Hi, I’m Dr. Katrina. I’m a Naturopathic Doctor, a lover of science, nature, the human body and all things we can’t yet explain. As a passionate person and healthcare practitioner, I’ve spent the last decade observing, researching, and connecting with cancer survivors. Seeing the inspiration within their journeys has taught me about myself and allowed me to see the opportunity that cancer can present to each of us.

As the author of The Opportunity in Cancer, I hope to bring awareness and a framework to explore solutions for the many challenges that cancer survivors face. This work is fundamental in the creation of The Cancer Remission Mission, where I strive to make resources for survivors more accessible. Ultimately, the goal is to allow survivors to begin their recovery journey on their own terms, at their own speed and in the comfort of their own homes.

I believe individualization of cancer recovery is vital to creating sustainable and successful transformation to thriving.

I see love in everyone everyday and try to be love every day with my family, which includes my parents, Bill and Johanna, and my husband, Daniel and our two daughters, Ella and Evie.
